2016 Goal Check In: August Results

Not a ton of progress on goals this month…been mostly working or my stupid body acting up keeping me from getting a lot done.  Had a few good spurts though and should now be done with the extra hours, which did help me get things done on time 🙂   Desktop flaked out on me just this past weekend, but fortunately just a video card issue (at least, hoping so) and had to wipe my laptop and restart it because of issues with Windows.  More roof leaking too, yay!

Either way, aiming to get at least some of the house stuff done during September!  And maybe some progress on An Eclectic World!

Financials

  1. Pay off the $5,000 personal loan I took out to replace the flat roof
  2. Get mortgage balance below $85,000
  3. Get student loan balance below $20,000 – next month should be the charm!  At $20,071 now 😀
  4. Pay off Discover Card, in full – it would so help if I quit adding to said balance… 🙁 though at least the payments are way more than the charges made and this month’s payment will bring it down to just under $750; projected finishing in November barring anymore computer or car or other crap troubles
  5. Work out payment plan and pay off goal for roof work

Fitness and Health

  1. Reach target weight of 145 lbs. (weight on January 1st: 165.6) – Current Weight: 163.8 – still stuck between 161 and 164 🙁
  2. Do some form of physical activity, be it go to the rec, walk, or bike campus, at least twice a week – did personal training session, got great exercise routine…and then open time at PEAP cancelled!  Figures.  Ah well, aiming to still do what I can at the Rec and back to swimming again finally
  3. Work up to consistently walking up the stairs at work, where feasible (if carrying groceries, etc. can still take elevator)
  4. Bike ride at least once a week, weather/life permitting

Around the House

  1. Update/replace locks on front and back door
  2. Replace or repair ripped up screen door
  3. Replace faucets in bathroom and add shut off valves (stretch: replace the sink with a decent, relatively inexpensive vanity)
  4. Paint bedroom – primary color picked!  Plan to paint next time I have a long weekend
  5. Repair holes in fascia board and soffits
  6. Clean up/out home office closet (smaller one)
  7. Clean up/out built-ins in cat’s room
  8. Get the final drawer back in the actual kitchen cabinet
  9. Weed front gardens and try to add new plants as finances permit
  10. Get another display cabinet for figurines and what not
  11. Repair or replace garage door opener
  12. Get caught up on filing of paperwork and shred old stuffDONE!
  13. Heating/Cooling Plan, Step 1: get main roof leaks repaired or, depending on cost comparison, go ahead and have the roof replaced as it is likely old enough to go either way; at same time get ceilings repaired that were damaged by leaks – really aiming to get the roof quotes obtained this month
  14. Heating/Cooling Plan, Step 2: get all old insulation, and if possible attic fan, removed from attic – most likely will be done with roofing

Hobbies

  1. Complete at least one “project,” started or not, that’s sitting around the house (e.g. puzzle, design own painted pony, horse rug, model car kit, etc.)
  2. Play through at least 3 console games (Tales of Graces F won’t count for this purpose since it was primarily paid in 2015) – Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch DONE! Started Genji: Days of the Blade, stuck on an insane battle
  3. Finish at least one PC game of: Age of Empires II (by completing all campaigns), Age of Empires III (ditto), Baldur’s Gate, Balder’s Gate II, or Dragon Age: Origins
  4. Watch at least 40 DVDs from collection – 8 so far…me thinks this just ain’t happening :-/
  5. Cull DVD collection
  6. Recode An Eclectic World to PHP with proper admin
  7. Finish ICEE Guide – all the big ones are in, just a few more to go 🙂
  8. Get all Italy pictures processed and posted

Everything Else

  1. When hit target weight, give self a $200 budget to go clothes shopping and get rid of any remaining “fat” clothes
  2. Again look at, and hopefully take, Oracle Certified Professional, MySQL 5.6 Developer Certification exam
  3. Look at and potentially take Zend PHP 5.5 Certification exam
